What we do

The project builds decentralized, farmer-operated production and learning systems for reliable Trichoderma access—paired with hands-on trainings, farmer networks, and policy/departmental convergence so the model can scale sustainably.

1) Production

Minilabs + quality assurance

We create citizen-science centric, farmer-led minilabs for production of Trichoderma—enabling controlled inoculation, strain maintenance, and scalable production to ensure consistent quality for field-based biocontrol interventions.

  • Kalimpong: farmer-led minilab for local production.
  • Tamil Nadu: mobile citizen-science minilab — “Mycology on Wheels” — for outreach to remote villages.
2) Knowledge dissemination

Training module + Myco Training Camps

We develop training modules (with case studies and secondary data) along with IEC materials, and conduct six hands-on training camps for farmers—covering cultivation, strain maintenance, substrate preparation, and field application techniques.

3) Farmer networks

Peer learning, sharing, and sustainability

We strengthen farmer networks engaging in mycology-based citizen science focused on biocontrol of pathogenic fungi using Trichoderma. Capacity building supports continued production, knowledge sharing, and network maintenance beyond the project period.

4) Advocacy & convergence

Working with departments and schemes

We network with agriculture and horticulture departments, FPOs, SHGs and CSOs to improve uptake of biocontrol methods and support evidence-based policy interventions for the use of Trichoderma in project states.

A key implementation insight from the District Horticulture Department, Kalimpong: scheme funds often go unspent because farmers hesitate to pay the required upfront share. The project addresses this through demonstrations, confidence-building, and convergence-driven adoption.
Where we work

Kalimpong · Tamil Nadu · West Bengal

In addition to inception activities in Pedong, Kalimpong, we work with farmer and horticultural communities in Villupuram (Tamil Nadu) and engage learning and evidence from West Bengal initiatives and other KVK experiences.
